If you work as a contractor in the construction industry, you must register with the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS). The Construction Industry Standard (CIS) is a set of rules that govern how contractors and subcontractors operate in the construction industry. You will be assigned a unique 9-digit registration number when you register for the CIS. As a registered CIS contractor, you must file a CIS monthly return UK with HMRC. This return must be submitted by the 21st of each month and include information about the work you did, the subcontractors you used, and the payments you made to them. If you have not yet registered for the CIS, EfjConsulting can assist you with the process.
